Thoughts On Uvalde

Last summer Kristen and I visited and stayed in Uvalde for a few days. The people there are kind and filled with a Texas hospitality.
Events like what took place in Uvalde leave people searching for answers and reasons why things like this happen.
Ultimately these things are a result of living in a broken sin filled world. People apart from the renewing and transforming work of God are depraved. Depravity is the broken sinfulness of our minds, actions, and emotions. We are literally enslaved to our sinfulness by nature. We are born this way.
As a result people do evil things, like what we see in Uvalde. This wickedness is a result of a wicked mind making wicked choices and carrying out wicked actions.
Without the saving work of God we are all dead in our sin and capable of all sorts of wickedness.
Jesus came to save sinners and through His church redeem all creation until he returns one day to rid the world of all wickedness and wicked people.
Until Jesus returns we as Jesus followers must share the gospel and help people trust and follow Jesus. The Gospel is the only hope for a broken society.
This side of Jesus’ return we will always have wicked acts, because there will always be wicked people.
Until Jesus’ return let the light of Christ shine through your words, actions, and decisions. As the gospel spreads society will be made better and with that will come human flourishing.
Please join me in praying for: * the families of the victims. * Jesus’ churches in Uvalde as they seek to be a light in the terrible darkness that they are facing.
